Research interests:

  • 3d kinematics and geometry of faults and their interaction
  • connecting geological observation on a larger scale (10-1000km) with first order mechanics
  • initiation and evolution of convergent and transform continental margins

Professional situation:

  • During the course of a Post-Doc position with J. Shaws group I am currently focussing on the reconstruction of a seismogenic fold and thrust belt in the northern LA basin. Due the blind (non-outcropping) nature of this belt, this involves to a large degree the interpretation and validation of industrial seismic reflection lines and bore hole data. For geo-referencing, reconstruction and deformation modelling we use a variety of advanced hard- and software .
  • Please see my very outdated former homepage for my Ph.D. work at the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam .
  • C.V.
  • selected publications (some reprints still available).

Data:

  • compiled map of the Rhernohercynian fold and thrust belt in Central Europe in dxf format (coordinates for utm zone 3) and as a CorelDraw5 drawing
  • topography of the northern LA-Basin in a 30m resolution offered as xyz ascii format and standard usgs dem (coordinates for utm zone 11). For this I processed 18 SDTS transfers (archives) of the usgs with arcinfo (email for detailed procedure) mainly for getting to know the area and having available a nice and exactly geo-referenced base map.
  • my complete Ph.D. thesis (!), also available as reprint.
  • beach balls in gocad: a presentation.
  • 425 (!) professional geologic map patterns for Canvas and Illustrator
